Word of Honor (outcome)
Before posting about the incident at Mr. Joe's I had sent an e-mail to Mr. Joe himself and there was no response after the call and so therefore I informed him that I am going to post about it on the blogosphere. I felt he is entitled to know. I mentioned the problem briefly and I also mentioned I spoke to someone at their other branch in an attempt to reach him in person, but had failed and that is the reason why I will post about it and that he would be more than welcome to place a comment.
The young lady that called had received the e-mail and also said she had read the post. She was very diplomatic and polite. She said I was wrong for taking Mohammed's word since maybe the next time I went I may have not found him therefore would have had nothing but the receipt, which is right. But my answer was yes I agree but I did not expect that I would face that problem in a shop like that. And the other thing was that I did ask about the amount written in the receipt twice and why it was not the amount I was told of. At the moment I just took his word as a word of honor and I respected it, therefore I expected the same respect as well. Maybe there was a pinch of embarrassment also that made me not insist the amount would be written as verbally agreed to, and that I learned from. I should not be embarrassed in such situation, it is simply my right. But what can I say, sometimes we learn the hard way.
In all cases she asked me to go pick up the difference from the shop and that I was entitled to it. I told her frankly and asked her not to feel offended that I do not wish to go there again because I do not want to deal with the sales people or Bergo from near or far after that experience and that I do not want the money back. I also added I just do not wish harm for Mohammed on a large scale and that I felt Bergo should have handled it in a better manner since he is the shop manager.
In all cases, I felt the outcome was good.
I do wish to thank "Eng. A" for her decency.
However, I still do not feel good about going to take the money. Any suggestions?

Take the money, by all means. It is your money. But if you still feel uncomfortable with keeping it perhaps you could find a suitable charity to donate it to.
Jane it is not keeping the money that is bothering me..charity is a good idea though, i appreciate it.
But really it is me walking back in there and dealing with those people again. Even as i write this i do not feel good. But you are right, i should go get the money, at least just to emphasise on the fact that what they did was not rightful and that they were not entitled for that money. I need to put my emotions aside, don't I? I get so affected by things.. Maybe way too much?
If you do not return for your money, it may seem to them that you don't believe they wronged you-that you were the one who made the mistake. However if it makes you so uncomfortable, then perhaps it is not worth the bother to you. Good luck.

I agree with Jane on that point ya gamila.. I think you should take the money...Rabena me3aki
Jane and Me,
I totally agree. Really i do and that is why i went through posting and writing an e-mail to Joe and so forth.
But as i mentioned to Jane I sometimes feel so down with people and shocked at their attitude to the extent i do not want to see their faces any more especially when the situation is clear where right and wrong are concerned.
But I guess i just needed some time for it to cool down and for me to be able to look at their faces again. But your support is great help... I felt disgusted that is the main issue.
Gals I really am a strong person, but sometimes need to take time away. But i honestly felt i did not want to walk in and deal with Bergo especially. Concept is dealing with such mentalities is annoying, but i did get what i wanted just for the sake of the principle.
I will go as soon as I have the chance to get the money.. Thanks for your support.
dalulla, honestly I am shocked !!!
It is not about word of honour acutally, it is called cheating or more simply, theft of course if they meaned to do this silly play, if it was a complete mistake as they are trying to say, then they made the most stupid think and you can't call it word of honour problem, it is stupidity problem!! they lost a good customer just by taking a decision that looks so weird and so wrong
Go get your money, and as jane said, you can spend it on any charity later, just don't stop acting against something wrong because you feel a little embaressed from it, I trust you :)
Free soul,
Thank you for your contribution.. I did not will not and not about to stop doing what you said about taking action about something i know if any one was asked about would agree that it was wrong.
Thing is i did it in the most amicable manner possible. But we must not forget to give credit to Eng. A who is a key person working with Joe. I know what i did was right otherwise things would have not changed, and i am not the type of person who really likes making fusses and have a loud voice (although in some cases you have no choice) but i prefer manners and wisdom in reations. I like low tone fusses if you know what i mean.. To get what u want never let anyone catch u with a mistake i believe. BE wise in your choice of words, gestures and actions, you'll end up gaining rather than loosing :-)
My way of life as i understood it from religious teachings. If I cannot get it, I will give leave it up to God and usually we do witness rewards. I have in a sense done that, and God did not fail me. Thank you Allah for everything and thank you all for your advices. all appreciated greatly.
glad this worked! we need to be trsuting, yet careful, 7arras wala tekhawwen
I understand you totally that you do not want the money back.
I wouldn't like to get it back either.
For me the more important thing is not to get the money back but to accept that they want to make the thing right.
For this reason it is very important to accept anything from them.
I find it is very important that you forgive them now - as they are willing to make everything good.
I think it is important that you forgive freely and treat them as if they never had done something wrong to them.
If I were in your situation, I would go there in any case: to show them that you again will do a footstep in their shop.
Secondly I would think if it is possible for your budget that you buy another pair of shoes with them after having received the amount - just to show them, you have forgiven:
perhaps you can come with a girl friend who knows the story but you bring your friend so that
1) you would overcome your bad feelings
2) you are not alone in the shop but with a friend
3) you profit to get the money back
4) you do something good to your friend
5)Your friend will feel happy because she has to pay less for her shoes
6) you do something good to the shop to show them that you have really forgiven and not only by words - as they have also shown you by their deeds that they have repented
and you can be sure:::
They will be VERY cautious to not treat bad any other customer
You can be SURE!
If you don't like the story to go with a friend to buy shoes there - nor to buy for yourself new shoes there - minus the money given back
then me being in your situation: I would
first go and fetch the money back
second buy a bouquet of flowers plus a vase to show your forgiveness
third go back to the shop and try to hand over your gift
fourth if they don't want to accept the bouquet - you take from your handbag the vase, put the flowers in it, put it on the sales counter - and off you go.
In addition to that you could buy a nice little card to put in the bouquet and write some words or a little poem in it like:
To Mr. Joe - personally
Came here to buy some shoes
but first was not treated good
but now we have spoken twice
and now you were so nice
to give me the money back
now the only lack
is real forgiveness - I want to show
everything's now ok - you shall know!
Hope you will be a good man
and never do it again!
Dallulah or your Family-Name
This is how I act in those cases: This was also the case how I reacted in the cases where I was treated bad by my colleague secretaries
I first spoke to them that they saw: they cannot do what they want with me (in one case I wrote all my anger down so that she can read it thoroughly and think over it and take it home)
and then after having reconciled I gave them a little gift with a card and some nice words.
In one case - after having received my little gift the lady asked me if I would agree with her that we will go and eat together in a restaurant (each one pays by one's own)
and we did that
Dallulah,
Good luck in finding your solution
Heidi
Heidi,
I cannot believe this. I hope you do though. As i was reading your comment and reached half way, just before the part where you mentioned your second alternative for a solution, I WAS THINKING BOQUET OF FLOWERS or Plant Pot with the money i will get back and a card to go with it!!!!
I swear to you this happened, it was amazingly suprising to the extent i almost jumped out of my chair out of suprise for the telepathy in thought!
As a matter of fact i also thought of something else that maybe will last longer, a nice plant pot where they can water it and it will grow and maybe will remind them of the concept of fogivness and good treatment and that money is not every thing.
Human relationships are more important and more valuable than any money. Human feelings are such an important aspect in our lives. Planting a good feeling in someone's heart and mind is what makes life better for all, and what makes people live together in harmony, respect and love.
Heidi, you cannot imagine how happy i was to feel that we both thought of the same kind gesture. That was truely beautiful.
I will God willing go and get the money and then go back with either a dried flower bouquet (so that it would last longer or a nice beautiful plant and a card).
Thank you for being here and i thank God i got to know someone so loving, kind, full of forgiveness and care such as yourself. God bless you sweetie!
Hi Dallula,
this was for sure not telepathy that is the Holy Gost.
That means you accepted what I wrote but were looking for another possibility.
It is the Spirit of Forgiveness - of the One who said:
Father, forgive them for they do not know what they are doing - and died.
When you are willing to react in this spirit, for sure you will have the same thoughts (or equal ones)
I am happy to hear from you that what you have written
Dallula, really, I do not like that others say: well Heidi, you are the great forgiving person and so on...
You know, Dallula, every week I go to a counceling that means where I say my sins
and God forgave me so much through Jesus Christ!
I could make a new beginning in 2002. Cause during the time I was living on my own I fell on sins of inmorality and I was so stuck to it that from 1994 to 2002 I could not get rid of it though I went every week to the counceling of sins.
Now, after eight years, I got it - thanks to God. I stopped all those evil ways, I have made a new beginning in 2002 and during the last 3 years I began a new life and I know for sure that God has forgiven me and that he looks on me as virgin as if I never had done anything wrong because I am now walking in the truth.
If God has forgiven me so much - how should I not forgive others?
By the way, I love the Israelites and I understand the Israelites who want to posess the whole land because in the bible there is a clearly described district which should be theirs but that doesn't mean that one should try to attain this goal by arms or so.
In Germany for example there were many people who prayed that Eastern Germany would no longer be under the Communistic Regime. But they did not start any battle or so. They just prayed regularly. Then in 1998 the doors of the 'Wall' were opened and the miracle happened.
... Thank you once more for your nice comment, Dallulah.
