Facts about Prophet Muhammed and Islam (Part 2)

YES! HE IS MUHAMMED (Allahomma saly wa salem 3aleih, may Allah's praise and blessings be on him)

He was born in Arabia in the year 570, started his mission of preaching the religion of Truth, Islam (submission to One God) at the age of forty and departed from this world at the age of sixty-three.

His Mission
During this short period of 23 years of his Prophethood, he changed the complete Arabian peninsula

  • From paganism and idolatry to SUBMISSION to one God, Allah,
  • From tribal quarrels and wars to national solidarity and cohesion,
  • From drunkenness and debauchery to sobriety and piety,
  • From lawlessness and anarchy to disciplined living,
  • From utter bankruptcy to the highest standards of moral excellence.

Human history has never known such a complete transformation of a society or a place before or since – and IMAGINE all these unbelievable wonders in JUST OVER TWO DECADES.

From a lecture by Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall, I decided to post parts of it, all related to misconceptions about Islam and Prophet Muhammed. I do pray and hope any of u who read, to read it with an open heart and mind, it will not do you harm to know. TO give a Moslem the chance to speak out from their side of the story and to hear them out. It will not lessen your freedom a bit.

An Abridged Version of Pickthall's Lecture

In the eyes of history, religious toleration is the highest evidence of culture in a people. It was not until the Western nations broke away from their religious law that they became more tolerant, and it was only when the Muslims fell away from their religious law that they declined in tolerance and other evidences of the highest culture. Before the coming of Islam, tolerance had never been preached as an essential part of religion.

If Europe had known as much of Islam, as Muslims knew of Christendom, in those days, those mad, adventurous, occasionally chivalrous and heroic, but utterly fanatical outbreak known as the Crusades could not have taken place, for they were based on a complete misapprehension.

Innumerable monasteries, with a wealth of treasure of which the worth has been calculated at not less than a hundred millions sterling, enjoyed the benefit of the Holy Prophet's (Muhammad’s) Charter to the monks of Sinai and were religiously respected by the Muslims. The various sects of Christians were represented in the Council of the Empire by their patriarchs, on the provincial and district council by their bishops, in the village council by their priests, whose word was always taken without question on things which were the sole concern of their community.

The tolerance within the body of Islam was, and is, something without parallel in history; class and race and color ceasing altogether to be barriers.

One of the commonest charges brought against Islam historically, and as a religion, by Western writers is that it is intolerant. This is turning the tables with a vengeance when one remembers various facts: One remembers that not a Muslim is left alive in Spain or Sicily or Apulia. One remembers that not a Muslim was left alive and not a mosque left standing in Greece after the great rebellion in l821. One remembers how the Muslims of the Balkan peninsula, once the majority, have been systematically reduced with the approval of the whole of Europe, how the Christian under Muslim rule have in recent times been urged on to rebel and massacre the Muslims, and how reprisals by the latter have been condemned as quite uncalled for.

To be continued....

Akbar, a mughal king who ruled in India was an epitome of tolerance and a great patron of art as well. He holds a cherished place in Indian history, I am told. However, there were those that came before and after him who did not share his beliefs.

Id it is,
I would like t clarify something:-)

I am not Putting Prophet Muhammed in comparison here, never will and never can, no one can be compared to him or to any other Prophet for all i care. Prophets should not be a subject of any sort of derogatory issues. He has not been chosen by God in vain or with no purpose.

The topic(s) herein are not concerned with kings. There have been many known for various positive traits and countless others of negative, some followed and taken as an example, and some assassinated either for their tyranny, or for their excess Justice.

I am here speaking of one of the Prophets sent to "ALL" mankind, that is the fact and matter. TO know, understand and follow or accept is a matter up to each person walking this earth and in to embrace Islam it must be in free will and not by force since the faith would be null and void. This point is what I really cannot understand. Sometimes I read comments saying, They want us to do what they want, or I'd rather rot than embrace this religion…. Why? Really? Who said anyone wants them to do anything they do not want? It never happened and therefore it cannot happen.

I am here speaking of a lovely prophet as all others before him (prophets that God orders us to respect and acknowledge) who does not deserve to be disrespected the way that has been evident lately in excess and with no sham.

The concept of this is to just give an over view about Prophet Muhammed and certain facts from history, and from an Englishman's point of view who chose to embrace this faith. I wanted the information displayed to be from someone who has lived and studied both sides of the story.

This is the least I can do for Allah, all his prophets and Prophet Muhammed May Allah's blessings and prayers be on him always.
